Call for
Case Study Abstracts authored by athletic training
students. The student authors of the top four abstracts
will be chosen to present at the
20th Annual SEATA Athletic
Training Student Workshop in Atlanta, GA, Feb
11-12, 2005. A faculty or staff person from the institution
of the student submitting the abstract must be a
co-author.
The winner of the 1st place abstract will also be
asked to prepare case study manuscript that will be
published in Athletic Therapy Today.
Deadline: Due electronically January 1, 2005
Content: Clinical Case Report abstracts provide for the
presentation of unique individual athletic injury cases of
general interest to the NATA membership.

Each abstract must have the following format:

Submitted via e-mail as an attached WORD document
-
Use a
regular font no smaller than 12

A title
at the top of the first page. The title should not
contain information that may reveal the identity of the
individual or the specific nature of the medical problem
to the reader.

Include
the names of all authors under the title (The student
author must be listed first. Enter the last name, and
then the initials (without periods), followed by a
comma, and continue with the others ending with a colon.

On the
same line following the colon after the names of the
authors, indicate the name of the institution (including
the city and state) where the research was conducted.

Double
space and begin entering the body of the abstract flush
left with no indentations. The text must include the
headings from each of the content areas. Do not justify
the right margin. Do not include tables or figures. A
minimum of one paragraph should be presented for each of
the following required content areas:

Personal Data/Pertinent Medical History
(age, sex, sport and/or occupation of the individual,
primary complaint, and pertinent aspects of his/her
medical history)

Physical Signs and Symptoms (a brief summary of the physical findings)
-
Differential Diagnosis (array of possible injuries)
-
Results of diagnostic Imaging/Laboratory Tests
-
Clinical Course (e.g., diagnosis, treatment, surgical technique, rehabilitation program,
final outcome)
-
Deviation from the Expected (a brief description of what makes this case unique)
