Composition:
The election committee will be comprised of 3 members from
the current state presidents on the Executive Board
appointed by the SEATA President with one member designated
as the Elections Committee Chair. These members will remain
on the committee throughout their term on the SEATA
Executive Board. In the event a committee member becomes
involved in an election as a candidate, the President will
appoint another Executive Board member to take that
candidate’s place.
Purpose:
In cooperation with the District Secretary, the Election
Chair will be responsible for planning and communicating
with the membership regarding all elections and special
elections within the Southeast Athletic Trainers Association
(SEATA) and District 9 of the National Athletic Trainers
Association (NATA). Elections will be conducted according
to the By-Laws of SEATA.
Duties:
The chair of the committee will be responsible for:

Communicating with
the CPA regarding ALL election processes. Currently, the
CPA is Gifford, Hillegass, & Ingwersen, LLP of Atlanta
Georgia.
-
Securing qualified
candidates for each election.
-
Requiring nominees to
forward current copies of NATA membership, BOC
certification cards and state licensure/certification
documents.
-
Ensuring with
documentation and verification with the respective
agencies and organizations that each candidate is in
good standing in each of the following areas:

NATA membership
-
BOC Certification
-
Respective state
membership
-
Respective state
licensure/certification
-
Notifying Secretary
of Nominees.
-
Soliciting candidate
biographies.
-
Establishing time
line for conducting elections.
-
Notifying all
candidates of results at appropriate times of the
election.
-
Notifying the
Secretary of SEATA the results so the members can be
notified.
Policies:
-
The ballot will
provide the following:
-
Space for member’s
name and signature.
-
Space for member’s
BOC certification number & NATA membership number.
-
Candidate’s names and
biographies.
-
Important mailing
dates and the contact mailing address of the current
accounting firm responsible for counting the ballots.
-
The SEATA Secretary
will be responsible for
-
Publishing
candidate’s biographies in SEATA newsletters as
appropriate and the SEATA website.
-
Notifying members
through e-mail web blasts, SEATA website, postcards to
those without e-mail of elections and to solicit
nominations.
-
Print and mail
ballots for elections in a timely manner.
-
Providing the current
accounting firm with a current list of eligible voters
along with names and membership numbers for validation
of ballots.
-
Notifying the SEATA
Executive Board of the results and then notifying the
general membership.
-
Ballots will be
mailed to the Certified Regular, Certified Retired, &
Certified Student membership of District 9/SEATA in
accordance with current SEATA By-Laws. For those
eligible voting members who do not receive a ballot for
whatever reason or need to replace their ballots, blank
ballots will be made available for printing and to be
sent through the regular mail. All ballots must be
mailed directly to Gifford, Hillegass, & Ingwersen, LLP

Gifford, Hillegass, &
Ingwersen, LLP will be responsible for:

Obtaining and
securing ballots.
-
Confirming validation
of voters by comparing BOC membership numbers & NATA
member with current NATA member database provided by
Secretary & the NATA Office.
-
Providing the
Election Chair with a report of the voting results and
tabulation of the votes.
-
In the case where a
ballot cannot be validated, it will not be counted but
will be kept with all ballots received.
